Ajmer 92 Movie - अजमेर 92 Film story - Review - release date - OTT?

Two years ago, a 50- year- old woman cried in the POCSO court in Ajmer. 'It's been 30 years,' he shouted to the packed court. I am a grandmother now. Leave me alone. How long will I keep telling what happened to me 30 years ago, who did it in what way. A year ago, in the POCSO court itself, a woman identified four accused who had gang- raped her 30 years ago. There was some difficulty in identifying the fifth, then she said, 'Hey, this brother had also raped.

The court was stunned on both the occasions. After all, who are these women and why are they forced to testify as grandmothers after 30 years? Are?p

In 2001, another such woman identified five rapists in the High Court, but suddenly disappeared after 2005. Don't know where he is even today. I don't know why the police could not trace him.

These women are among about 200 women who were between the ages of 17 and 20 in 1992. Some were in school, some in college. All of them became victims of blackmailing. Nude photographs of all of them were taken, videos were made and sexual exploitation was done for months (Ajmer 1992 Rape Case Scandal)

There are two types of stories in front of us regarding how this process started. It is said that the sons of some influential and politically influential families in Ajmer made the son of a big businessman a victim of their lust. Then blackmailed through pictures that he should bring his girlfriend. When the girl came, she was raped in a big bungalow of a big family in Ajmer. Then through the photographs and videos taken, the girl was forced to bring her friend. After this, the process of bringing her friend and rape started.

The second story is that a ninth grade girl from a prestigious school in Ajmer was interested in politics. He came to know some youth leaders of Ajmer unit of Youth Congress. They raped the girl by taking her to a politician's farm house on the pretext of teaching her the tricks of politics. Blackmailed on the basis of pictures and videos taken that she should introduce her to her friend. After this friend after friend, picture after picture, video after video and so on.

It is said that this process continued for months. The number of girls reached 200. Sometimes he was called to a bungalow, sometimes to a farm house, and sometimes to a poultry farm. From government officials to leaders would join the party and be sexually abused.

The matter came to light when a technician working in a photographer's shop who developed such pictures was shown some obscene photographs published in a foreign magazine by his neighbour. On this the technician showed the native pictures to the neighbour. The neighbor was stunned. He posted some pictures at the office of the local Navjyoti newspaper and the address of the local office of Vishwa Hindu Parishad.

Newspaper reporter Santosh Gupta already had some idea about such a case and he was also working on this story. The news was published for the first time on April 21 after the photographs surfaced, but did not make any significant impact. After this, on May 15, the news was published once again with a blurred photo. This time there was a stir. At that time there was a Congress government at the centre. Narasimha Rao was the PM. There was BJP government in Rajasthan. CM was Bhairon Singh Shekhawat.

Shekhawat handed over the case to CBCID. It was told in the news that about two hundred girls studying in the school- college of Ajmer were sexually abused for months. She was blackmailed by making nude pictures and videos. Almost all the girls were Hindu. There were a total of 18 accused, all Muslims except four. Some were Youth Congress functionaries, some were associated with Khadim families in Khwaja Sahib's Dargah. Thankfully, there were no 24- hour TV channels at that time, otherwise what would have happened.

Journalist Santosh Gupta had published the news risking his life, because the accused were rich, had political connections, were influential and were going to describe themselves as descendants of Chishti i.e. Khwaja Saheb. At the same time, the girls who were victims of blackmailing were also from elite families along with high government officials. Although some of them were also from middle class and poor families.

In the initial phase, about 200 girls were reported to have been raped, but only 29 recorded their statements and only three came forward to testify in the court. At least two of these were from the poor middle class. Six or seven are believed to have committed suicide. Three tried to commit suicide after giving the statement. The families of many of the girls left Ajmer overnight and went to other cities and the police had to struggle a lot to trace their new addresses. The best effort of the police was anyway to suppress the matter, to save it from communal colour, to maintain law and order. Between 1992 and 2016, the police could produce only 58 eyewitnesses. But, in the last three years, a police officer named Dalbir Singh persuaded 40 eyewitnesses to testify.

In this case, in September 1992, the police presented the first charge sheet. In the 250- page charge sheet, 128 witnesses and 63 evidences were produced. Meanwhile, in October, a journalist named Maidan Singh was shot dead in the hospital premises. Maidan Singh used to run a newspaper named 'Laharon Ki Barkha'. In his newspaper, he had told Congress leader and former MLA also to be involved in rape.

I used to be the sub- editor at Navbharat Times Jaipur at that time. I remember, then news would come that how there was a huge demand for those photographs in Ajmer. Photographers, photo lab technicians, police officers and even some local journalists were blackmailing the family members of the victim by showing the pictures. That is, earlier the victims lost their dignity by becoming victims of blackmailing and now the blackmailers were engaged in looting the earnings of the family members. The trial of the case began in 1992 and six years later, the sessions court in 1998 sentenced eight of the 18 to life imprisonment. One of the accused absconded, who is still absconding. The CBI has issued a Red Corner notice against him. When one became a victim of schizophrenia, the court released him considering the days spent in jail as punishment. Session Court, Rajasthan High Court, Supreme Court, Fast Track Court, Special Court for hearing cases of atrocities on women and now POCSO Court - during this period 12 government lawyers changed, 30 SHOs changed, more than a dozen new SPs came and went, But the trial is still going on. Meanwhile, one of the accused had committed suicide after being released on bail. Presently the case is going on against six and those two women are still coming for testimony. The courage of one of them was appreciated by the Rajasthan High Court itself in 2001, when the woman identified the five accused in a full court.

Now you tell me, should any film or documentary made on this scandal be opposed by saying that Khwaja Saheb's city is being defamed by it? It was defamed by those people who took advantage of the helplessness of the girls 30 years ago, put political pressure on the police, linked the matter with law and order and forced the police administration to lax the investigation and even today the accused are roaming around proudly. Yes, released on bail.

One more thing, 1998. I was in the channel then, reporter from Rajasthan. It came to know early in the morning that today the sessions court can give its verdict on the Ajmer blackmail case. I had reached Jaipur early in the morning after doing a story from Alwar. Both the cameraman and I were tired. There was such a big news, so I had to go to Ajmer. When I called one or two journalists, they were told that it is not necessary that the verdict should be pronounced today. I took the judge's number from a journalist and dialed the phone. The judge got angry when he came on the line. Started saying how dare you call. I apologized, explained the reason and then asked whether I should come to Ajmer today. On this, the judge said that Ajmer should be reached after lunch time. I understood that the judge is going to pronounce the verdict today itself and the verdict will come after noon. We got a little tired for two hours and were in the sessions court at lunch time.
