Now, Vishal is back with Latthi, another cop drama that aims to differentiate itself from films of the same kind. Did he fulfill what he promised?
A brutal rape takes place and the police are on the lookout for the culprit. The police catch the accused and police constable Muruganantham (Vishal) is asked to reprimand him for confessing the truth. Later he came to know that he had falsely accused a man of rape. Muruganantham was suspended for a year following the human rights case. One day, Muruganantham accidentally encounters a criminal who had committed a heinous crime. This changed the direction of his life and career forever. Does Muruganantham escape the wrath of the criminal? Will he get justice for the woman who tragically died? Lathi has answers to these questions.

At a time when Kollywood is dominated by films about policemen with superior designations in the policing system, the film is about a police constable, a character not seen extensively in Tamil cinema. Vishal is convincing as a police constable. He brings out the vulnerability of the job and shows how the system does not support the lower ranking employees. Written and directed by Vinoth Kumar, Laathi is one film that takes the audience by surprise to a great extent. When he recovers after six months, he is afraid to touch the stick. These are some brilliant touches that keep you spellbound in the first part. While Vishal gets a non- heroic entry, the villain is promoted throughout the film. In the first part, the villain is masked. But, those who follow Kollywood can easily find out who the villain is before the big reveal. Blackjack then becomes a game of cat and mouse, which is interesting. Vinoth Kumar did an exceptional job of maintaining suspense for the most part.

Is laththi worth watching?
The good story was spoiled by "over dose" of action and fight scenes. Especially the flashback riot was pathetic and it could have been done in so simply in believable way. It was like RRR starting fight. If you can adjust to Vishal acting, this will be a decent watch.
Who is the villain in Laatti movie?
The makers announced that Ramana who produced the film was cast as the main antagonist in the film. Veteran actor Prabhu was signed in to play an important role in this film which marks his third collaboration with the lead actor after Aambala and Thaamirabharani.
